The National Higher Polytechnic School of Douala (NHPSD) made a remarkable entrance at the third edition of the Africa Start-up Ecosystem Builders 2024 (ASEB SUMMIT 2024), held on October 3 in Accra, Ghana. Competing in the category of Technology Transfer and Commercialization, NHPSD won first prize with its innovative project, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Fund.

This pan-African event, organized alongside the Ghana Digital Innovation Week, highlights initiatives that support innovation and entrepreneurship across the continent. For this edition, 1,244 projects from 44 countries were nominated, but only 150 finalists made it to the final phase in various categories.
NHPSD’s triumph reflects its central role in creating bridges between academic research and the business world. Through its leadership in technology transfer, the institution contributes to the emergence of a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in Cameroon and Africa. This award also underscores the importance of supporting young innovators and encourages the commercialization of technologies to meet market needs.

The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Fund is a model that could inspire other African universities to focus on the commercialization of research and strengthen ties with the private sector. This victory paves the way for new opportunities for NHPSD and reaffirms its commitment to technological innovation and sustainable entrepreneurship.
