Under heavy rain, the teachers of the Institute of Fisheries Sciences (ISH) at the University of Douala in Yabassi kicked off the World Teachers’ Day celebrations with enthusiasm. On Thursday, October 3, 2024, a sports walk marked the beginning of the festivities, gathering numerous participants, including the ISH Director, Professor Minette Tomedi Eyango, wife of Tabi Abodo. Despite the downpour, the atmosphere was warm, with a sense of camaraderie that filled the rainy morning with meaning.

This walk symbolizes more than just physical effort; it showcases the teachers’ determination and commitment to their central role in education despite the challenges. It was also a moment of relaxation and bonding, where the staff brought warmth to the wet weather with their enthusiasm.

The celebration doesn’t end there. Tomorrow, Friday, October 4, at 8:00 AM, a pedagogical coffee session will open the day, moderated by Dr. Nyamsi. This workshop will focus on the outcomes of the international training in digital university pedagogy. This will be followed by enriching sessions for all teachers, running from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM, before a closing ceremony scheduled for 3:00 PM. Teachers are invited to actively participate, bringing their laptops or Android phones, along with lesson plans, to enhance discussions and strengthen their pedagogical skills.

This series of activities, supported by Campus Univers, CAMERVIBES MAGAZINE, and ISH COMMUNICATION, aims to strengthen bonds within the teaching community and reaffirm their crucial role in Cameroonian society. Blending conviviality with learning, the World Teachers’ Day celebration at ISH promises to be a key event to honor teachers and their contributions to educational development.
